Time to awaken the foody within! In a truly unique setting, the restaurants of the Pietermaai district, downtown Willemstad, will show off their best bites and nibbles. Rock Beach, probably the smallest city beach ever, will be hosting this lovely event. The event is split in two days; Saturday 18 and Sunday 19th June from 16:00 – 22:00 everyone is welcome nibble and taste the flavours of Pietermaai District.
For wonderful events like these I often wonder if we should bring the kids, the time allows for it, the location allows for kids (although there won’t be a special kids’ corner) and we’re for some reason always too late to organise a babysitter. So I got chatting to Marijke, of Evento, the organisers of Pietermaai Proeft, and she confirmed that kids are more than welcome! Better still, kids under age of 12 enjoy free entrance ☺ Yay, great news as I’m tired of missing out on these yummy events.
During Pietermaai Proeft there is plenty to ‘proef’ for the mini-foodies, check out
my ‘mini-foody-must-try’ list
– Susan of Restaurant Kome is baking fresh buttermilk biscuits that sound very promising especially with some tomato jam and/or honey butter!
– Scuba Lodge is jazzing up the classic hamburger with rib eye, quail egg, bacon and a fresh sesame bun… sounds very ‘mini-foody-proof’ to me!
– Ginger is at it again, catering for all ages and tops the menu for ‘mini-foody-proof’ dishes such as chicken loempia (spring roll ), fish skewers, surf & turf nasi goreng and OMG fried ice cream!!!
So what’s the deal?
You can buy your entrance ticket for NAF 27,50 per person at the door, or pre-sale at Servis Frais, Evento Curacao, Miles Jazz Cafe or at Bruna. Kids under 12 yrs get in for free.
The nibbles and bites are sold by means of tokens, which are Naf 2,- per token. You can buy the tokens at the event.
So one portion of fried ice cream at Ginger will cost you 4 tokens x Naf 2,- and I’m 99% sure that it’s well worth it!
And…. In case it skipped your busy mommy-mind… it’s Father’s Day on Sunday and I get to give away one ticket to the luckiest dad on Curacao. Check out my Facebook page for more details. As always, feel free to share your Pietermaai Proeft experience with me! -x-
